The popularity of Social Networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook have exploded in recent years. Users can join networks to connect and interact with other people, and they’ve fast become the most popular way to communicate, keep in touch, and find lost friends.
LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking site, and is now taking the business world by storm. Launched only in May 2003 its site traffic in December 2007 was 3.2 million visitors per month, and in May 2008, it boasted more than 24 million registered users. The purpose of the site is to allow registered users to maintain a list of contact details of people they know and trust in business. The people in the list are called Connections. Users can invite anyone (whether a site user or not) to become a connection.
How can this be helpful to you? Apart from being a simple way to stay in touch with former colleagues, LinkedIn can be a great way to get / keep in touch with potential recruiters. In-house recruiters as well as recruitment companies are using LinkedIn as a way unearthing potential talent. Registering with LinkedIn will help you get noticed, and the more contacts you have, the better. It’s a fact that people with more than twenty connections are thirty-four times more likely to be approached with a job opportunity than people with less than five.
Ifftner Solutions are embracing this technology, and you’ll find all of our consultants registered with LinkedIn and Facebook. They’ll be pleased to network with you, making it easy to keep you informed quickly of potential opportunities. Ifftner also has a fan’s page on Facebook- and we’d love you to become a fan!
